Laolu is a Senior Associate in the Corporate/Commercial Department of the Firm. Prior to joining Gbenga Biobaku & Co., Laolu was a Legal Officer in Blue Intercontinental Microfinance Bank Limited where his key responsibility was monitoring and regulatory compliance with country wide standard as prescribed by the Central Bank of Nigeria. He also participated in the credit compliance as of the bank.

Laolu was previously with the law firm of Etikerentse & Uvieghara where he participated actively in the core practice areas of the firm which is in energy and employment law. Laolu had a stint in Dele Akinmusuti & Co. and at Akinjide & Co.

While he was at V.Mobile (now Airtel Nigeria), one of the major telecoms companies in Nigeria, Laolu worked in the compliance and regulatory unit of the company where he advised on a wide range of issues including contracts and procurement procedures.

Holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2003. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association.

Some key transactions in which Laolu had been involved include (taking into account matters handled prior to joining the firm):

• Involved in providing legal representation for Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited in an oil spill and environmental pollution action against a community in turbulent Niger-Delta region of Nigeria.

• Involved in provided legal representation for Shell Nigeria Ultra Deep in a matter involving the enforcement of an arbitral award.

• Advised the American subsidiary of a leading multinational oil company in a matter relating to a contractual dispute with an oil servicing company.

• Participating in advising and providing legal opinion towards passing a budget system law for Lagos State.
